Bay Avenue Residence inspired by the french west indies

Boasting coveted Newport Bay views, this 4-bed 4.5-bath residence brings a fresh yet timeless interpretation of coastal luxury to the Newport coast. Designed by Tyler+Kelly Architecture and inspired by the French West Indies, the home blends relaxed sophistication with architectural precision—featuring vibrant louvered Bahama shutters, standing seam roofs, and intricate hand-crafted wood details. Each element has been thoughtfully curated to capture the spirit of seaside living while maximizing the surrounding natural beauty.

Our goal was to create a special 'forever' home to raise our family and share with friends for decades to come - we were so thrilled to collaborate with a team that understood and executed this vision,” the homeowner, Andrew Mason, explains. Expansive windows and folding glass doors invite abundant light, framing vistas of the bay and welcoming in cool coastal breezes. The design makes way for an intimate courtyard, a front porch, a series of covered balconies, as well as a 3rd floor roof terrace with uninhibited panoramic views of the Pacific coast and the Newport Bay. Inside, the design balances modern elegance with warmth and approachability. The open layout connects these elements seamlessly, encouraging gatherings that flow effortlessly indoors and out. Every space has been oriented to celebrate its coastal backdrop, from the sunlit living room to the intimate bedrooms tucked along the upper levels. The primary suite is a true retreat, capturing sweeping bay views that shift with the light of day. It features a large walk-in steam shower, a private office, as well as a double-sided fireplace that connects to a private balcony. The third-floor flex room and roof terrace add another layer of versatility and serve as the home’s crown jewel, which features a firepit, built-in barbecue, kitchenette, jacuzzi, and sauna. “When the right team, the right vision, and the right client align—magic happens,” Interior Designer Karen Wight explains. “This timeless build was all about good vibes and unstoppable creativity.”

Attention to detail, along with a variety of warm and contrasting materials, the Architecture intends to capture the eye but pay homage to its context. “The coastal heritage that this Architecture pulls from is intended to elevate the Newport Beach peninsula and help serve as building block toward creating a great community,” explains Architect Jon Kelly, Principal at Tyler+Kelly Architecture. “RW Lewis Builders constructed the project, paying close attention to every detail, both inside and out. It’s not just about having a great design. It comes down to great craftsmanship, an attentive GC, and a Client willing to trust the process. I’m so happy it turned out the way it did.”
