Summer may be gone, but our Junior Journalist, Taylor, and her mom made the most of the season's final days with an epic, sunshine-filled getaway. Leaving just after 9:00 AM, they headed to SeaWorld San Diego and arrived as the gates opened to beat the crowds.
Here are their tips for exploring SeaWorld San Diego:
To make the most of the morning, head straight for Manta while ride lines are shortest. Featuring dual launches and smooth, sweeping turns, it stands out as the ultimate big-kid coaster. Right at the exit, visitors can pause at the Manta Touch Pools, where young adventurers can safely touch gentle bat rays alongside knowledgeable park educators. From there, head over to Pacific Point for sea lion feeding, a guaranteed highlight where tossing fish to the vocal, charismatic animals brings endless laughs, with the added excitement of dodging sneaky, opportunistic seagulls.
As the day warms up, cool off with a walk through the All-New Shark Encounter, a state-of-the- art exhibit featuring a newly reimagined underwater acrylic tunnel where impressive sand tiger sharks swim directly overhead, alongside other marine life. Then take a ride on Journey to Atlantis, where a dramatic splash-down drop delivers a refreshing cool-down on warmer days.
When it's time to adjust the pace, Rescue Junior offers age-appropriate rides and interactive fun perfect for taking things down a notch. For lunch, treat yourself to Dining with Orcas, a dream culinary experience featuring a chef-curated buffet patio-side as you observe majestic killer whales interacting with their specialist animal care team. Finally, cap off the day at Dolphin Point with the Dolphin Encounter, where you'll learn trainer hand signals and get up close to touch these remarkable animals. An exciting way to end the day before heading home.
A fun way to experience SeaWorld San Diego is during their Christmas Celebration, which returns November 13, 2026, through January 3, 2027, with all holiday programming included in the regular park admission.
Visitors can stroll through the park beneath more than one million lights, explore immersive pop-ups like Santa’s Cottage, Mrs. Claus’ Village, and the Reindeer Lawn, featuring real reindeer, and enjoy inclusive Hanukkah and Kwanzaa festivities.
The seasonal entertainment lineup brings nightly snowfall, lively DJs, a colorful Holiday Parade, and live shows like Toymaker Trouble with Mrs. Claus & the Elves and Stocking Full of Soul 2026. After delighting guests with the return of mischievous sea lion duo Clyde and Seamore in last year’s Christmas Special, SeaWorld is adding even more holiday wonder this year with Dolphin Island Christmas, a festive new presentation starring the park’s dolphins.
If you’re looking for a fun way to celebrate the holiday season, we can’t recommend SeaWorld San Diego enough!
