Exceptional Dining at OEB Breakfast Co.

By: Bethany Myers

OEB Breakfast Co. flourished from a little cafe in Canada and has since expanded to Scottsdale, Arizona, and now to its first California location, here in Newport Beach! Situated in an unassuming shopping center in the Westcliff Plaza, one may never notice this little gem nestled in the corner unless, of course, word of mouth lures them in - which is likely, considering how incredibly delicious the food is.

OEB Breakfast Co. maintains a philosophy of: “learn, teach, and inspire.” Their welcoming dining experience provides an exceptional and ever-evolving atmosphere – leaving you truly “soul-full.”

Visitors will be entertained by the fun menu, which features quirky names like “Do Not Even Go There,” “Cluck Norris,” and “The Notorious BIT.” No matter what you order, every dish is tasty, picturesque, and absolutely Insta-worthy.

Founder and classically trained Chef Mauro Martina made it his mission to create a culture that prioritizes food integrity and human connection. Growing up in Italy, Mauro was constantly exposed to fresh, rich ingredients located at nearby markets. Eventually, he outgrew his roots in Europe and made the bold move to North America in 1992. At the young age of 21, he became an executive chef and was renowned amongst his peers. Gaining incredible experience in the food industry over the years, in 2009, Mauro opened the first farm-to-table OEB cafe in Canada and continues to oversee all aspects of this growing empire.

I was so thrilled to try it out with my husband as my guest. He ordered the Lobster and Shrimp Crepe - a butter-poached lobster and shrimp scramble with green onions, brown butter hollandaise, and truffle pearls. Guests have the option to add 1/4 oz of organic Sturgeon caviar to elevate the flavor, which, of course, he tried (and thoroughly enjoyed!) Next, we tried the Gold Digga - made with poached eggs, beef tallow fried herb potatoes, fresh cheese curds, Berkshire roast pork, black truffles, and brown butter hollandaise. The meal is honestly unforgettable! Are you drooling yet?

 Favorite dishes and drinks include:

Walid (Owner) - The Croque Madame

Bethany (Newport Beach Living Writer): I recommend ordering the iced chai with one shot of espresso to wake up! It’s not too sweet and has a deliciously distinct taste.
