For Gemma Touchstone, co-founder of Therapoint Treatment Center, that mission was shaped by profound loss and a determination to help others avoid the uncertainty and unnecessary suffering she witnessed in the people she loved most.

After losing her father-in-law to prostate cancer, her mother to diabetes and her husband to prescription drug addiction, Gemma experienced firsthand the frustrations many families face while navigating today’s healthcare system. She watched loved ones endure years of treatments, conflicting recommendations and unanswered questions, often managing symptoms without ever receiving personalized solutions.

“It wasn’t just the diagnoses,” Gemma explains. “It was the years of confusion, trial and error, and feeling like there were no clear answers.”

Those experiences forever changed her perspective.

She came to believe that healthcare too often focuses on treating conditions rather than understanding the individual behind the diagnosis. While patients are often presented with countless treatments and opinions, many are left without a clear path forward. Born at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, she has lived in Orange County her entire life. Her family has deep roots in the area. Her father founded Exterminetics of Southern California, a local termite and pest control company that has proudly served the community since 1970 and continues to operate today.

“Orange County isn’t just where I live,” she says. “It’s home.”

That belief shapes every interaction at Therapoint and reflects her commitment to serving the community she has called home her entire life.

She credits Orange County’s active lifestyle, beautiful coastline and strong sense of community for inspiring her passion for helping others live healthier, fuller lives. Whether spending time near the ocean or walking through Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve, she finds daily reminders of the importance of balance, wellness, and living with purpose.

That same commitment extends well beyond the walls of Therapoint.

Outside the clinic, Gemma dedicates much of her time to Art of Gold, a nonprofit initiative alongside Newport Beach artist Timree Gold that provides free art education to children. The program focuses on building confidence, encouraging creativity, strengthening emotional expression and helping young people discover their unique potential through art.

The initiative has set an ambitious goal of providing free art education to more than one million children, a vision Gemma is proud to help bring to life.

Therapoint also actively supports organizations making a meaningful impact throughout the community, including Art of Gold, Miracles for Kids, Happy Jack’s foster care initiative, and CHOC Children’s Hospital. Giving back, she says, is a natural extension of the company’s mission to help people live healthier, fuller lives.

Community involvement remains an important part of Therapoint’s future. Gemma welcomes opportunities to collaborate with local charities, physicians, wellness organizations, schools and community initiatives that share a common goal of improving lives throughout Orange County.
