Kamilia Motahari: A Branch of Beauty

Meet Kamilia Motahari, a rising junior at Sage Hill School, who has co-founded a “business of beauty,” better known as GLOW — an organization that strives to empower the young generation of beauty gurus through hands-on experiences and research, to launch your own clean beauty brand! It all started with a late-night phone call sparked by a passion for the beauty industry. Kamilia and her good friend, Katie, began to assemble the future of GLOW in the middle of the night, starting with just some simple thoughts. Eventually, their other friend Zoe joined the circle, and together they began to shape GLOW. Living in Newport Coast has influenced Kamilia’s part of co-founding GLOW, as she says, “you’re constantly surrounded by entrepreneurs and inspiring people, which is extremely motivating,” and explaining that “there’s a strong emphasis on clean beauty in this community. Seeing how deeply the value holds, it is not just a trend but a part of people’s lifestyles, which has shaped many of the ideas we bring into our club.” So far, Glow has been hosting school-wide events, such as featuring Wende Zomnir, the founder of Urban Decay, to empower students with her creative expertise in the beauty industry. In the future, Kamilia hopes to expand GLOW’s presence within the community of Newport Beach to reach a bigger audience of teens.
About Kamilia Motahari
Kamilia is a 16-year-old girl who moved to Newport Coast in 2022 and describes it as “a very beautiful place to grow up in” and “wouldn’t change it for the world.” She enjoys beach days at Lido Isle, smoothie runs at CDM, and strolling around Crystal Cove Shopping Center. Her favorite thing about living in Newport, "is how even the most ordinary routine, like driving to the grocery store, yoga, or the mall, takes me along the Pacific Coast Highway. It always reminds me of how fortunate I am to live here.” Moving to Newport Beach has left Kamilia with many great memories, and she hopes to make more in the future.
