The Lido Theater, Newport Beach’s landmark Art Deco venue overlooking Via Lido, is continuing its evolution as one of Orange County’s emerging destinations for live entertainment. Following an extensive restoration and a new operational chapter led by Hollywood producer Joseph “McG” Nichol and Jordan Otterbein of River Jetty Restaurant Group, the historic theater has expanded beyond film programming to include a growing calendar of live music and nationally touring comedy acts scheduled through October 2026.
Since assuming operations in 2024, the team has focused on reimagining the longtime theater experience while preserving the character and nostalgia that have made The Lido a local icon for decades. Weekly film screenings now share the calendar alongside concerts, tribute performances and stand-up comedy, drawing audiences from across coastal Orange County.
For Newport Beach native McG, the project carries both personal and professional significance.
“My career began in Newport Beach directing music videos and producing in the entertainment world, so reopening The Lido in this way feels incredibly full circle,” said McG. “There’s something special about creating an experience where people can enjoy live music, comedy and film in such an intimate setting.”
The venue has already hosted an impressive roster of performers since relaunching its live entertainment programming, including the internationally acclaimed Gipsy Kings, Sugar Ray, Chris Isaak and Dwight Yoakam. Demand has continued to build, with comedian David Spade recently adding a second performance on June 25 after his June 28 appearance sold out.
Unlike larger concert venues, The Lido Theater offers a more personal atmosphere where audiences remain closely connected to the stage from every seat in the house. Combined with convenient parking, walkability and the surrounding dining scene, the experience has quickly resonated with both locals and visitors seeking a more relaxed and elevated night out.
Current Summer and Fall 2026 performances include:
• The Long Run – Eagles Tribute | June 20, 2026
• David Spade – I Got a Feel for It | June 25 & 28, 2026
• Hot August – Neil Diamond Tribute | June 27, 2026

Originally opened in 1939, The Lido Theater remains one of Orange County’s earliest surviving movie theaters and a notable example of Art Deco architecture. The property was carefully restored by the Fritz Duda Company, preserving many of the theater’s historic design details while modernizing the guest experience for today’s audiences.
Positioned steps from Lido Marina Village, the theater continues to anchor one of Newport Beach’s most active waterfront districts, blending entertainment, hospitality and community gathering spaces in a distinctly coastal setting.
