FEBURARY 2026 Mayor's Corner
Soon after I took office, I started hosting informal roundtable discussions with a variety of stakeholders in order to garner feedback on how to help the Corona del Mar Village, the heart of my district, become even more welcoming for residents, pedestrians, businesses and visitors. Some of the initiatives that grew from these conversations are the City’s CdM Commercial Corridor study, “3rd Thursdays” street fair, and the “Paint the Town” public mural program. Sherman Library & Gardens, undergoing an inspiring revitalization of their own, ventured outside the garden walls (literally!) in a collaboration to enhance the CdM Village experience through a mural program supported by grant funds from the City, Orange County 5th District Supervisor Katrina Foley and me.
There are so few things that are not divisive these days, but the positivity and excitement over these murals has been unanimous and absolutely contagious. As one long-time (almost a 100-years long!) Corona del Mar resident put it, “a little paint makes a big difference!”
We had a lot of fun celebrating the unveiling of our new murals with the artists, contributors, businesses and
other attendees – and a little rainy-day-good-luck blessing! On behalf of our community, I want to express my sincere gratitude to Sherman Library & Gardens, property owners, and artists, Jon Leonardo, Cory Schnitzer, Joe Geis, and Aaron Martinez, for bringing this project to life!
We do hope to build on the momentum with future public art projects and partnerships.
Warmly,
Mayor Lauren Kleiman
