Ripkytchen: Cooking, Culture & Community in Newport Beach

By: Amanda Huntsman

Located along West Coast Highway in Newport Beach, Ripkytchen is more than a place to learn how to cook—it’s where people come together to connect, share, and celebrate through food. Founded in 2019 by Theresa and Paul Ripke, Ripkytchen offers intimate, hands-on cooking classes and events rooted in clean eating, cultural inspiration and the joy of gathering around a table.

Originally from Hamburg, Germany, Theresa is a certified nutritionist and self-taught home cook who moved to Newport Beach in 2016 with her husband, photographer and entrepreneur Paul Ripke, and their young family. What began as cooking magazines sold in Germany to showcase California’s culinary diversity has evolved into a cookbook, sold-out kids’ camps and popular adult cooking classes.

Each Ripkytchen experience is personal and interactive—small groups cook side by side using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Guests learn approachable techniques, explore global flavors, and enjoy a sit-down meal at the end of every session. It’s not just a class—it’s a shared experience that leaves you inspired, nourished and confident in the kitchen.

Theresa is also deeply involved in the Newport Beach community, leading After Class Enrichment (ACE) programs through the NMUSD school district. Her youth classes empower children ages 5–12 with essential kitchen skills, nutrition fundamentals and creative confidence. She also proudly supports Nourish Every Child, a charitable organization dedicated to fighting food insecurity and ensuring that all children have access to healthy meals. Through her youth cooking classes and philanthropic efforts, she’s helping the next generation build life skills, curiosity, and confidence—one recipe at a time.

Rooted in passion, community, and purpose, Ripkytchen continues to grow—offering private cooking events, team-building workshops, summer camps and an expanding cookbook collection for families to enjoy at home.
